Additional Claim Information

Make Notes

Try and make a note of as many details of the accident as you can.  Write down things like, Date, Time, Location and Weather Conditions. If you have had a trip or fall try and keep any damaged property or clothing as this can enhance your claim.

Witnesses

If there are any witnesses to your accident try and get there contact details (Names, Telephone Numbers, Emails, Postal Address,) and Get ask them if they would be able to help your case by describing what happened.

Police

If the police do attend the scene of the accident, get details of the officer in charge, including the police station where he/she is based and a reference number.

Who caused the accident?

Make a note of the contact details of the person who caused the accident (Name, Address and phone Numbers), if you have a car accident get the Make, Model and Car registration of their vehicle.
If at all possible, get details of their insurance company as well.

Photographs

Take photographs of the accident scene.  Sometimes it helps to place a copy of the day's newspaper in the scene, so it’s clear when the accident took place (for example, if you tripped on a broken paving stone).
If you've suffered a trip or a slip, or been involved in a road traffic accident, make a sketch plan of the accident scene.

Medical Assistance

If you have suffered any injuries from the result of the accident make sure you get medical attention at your Doctors or nearest Hospital and if you go to an accident and emergency department, get a reference number.
If your injuries aren’t serious enough for you to get immediate medical help, make sure you take photographs of them next to the day’s newspaper.

Receipts

Keep a detailed record of any costs that you have occurred because of the accident, things like Prescriptions and Travel.
If your injury was caused by a faulty product, make sure you keep the product and any packaging and receipts.
